Solid Gold

Ok, so it's actually Liquid Gold, but Solid Gold sounds so much cooler!
Today's Juice Creation is all about the Gold
Golden Beet
Golden Pineapple
Golden-ish Apples
Goldi-Peel Lemon
It's beautiful, delicious and of course healthy.

The Deets
1 Golden Beet - washed and peeled
2 Cups Pineapple - I use the core which is usually about a cup + a cup of sweet juicy fruit
3 Apples
1 Lemon - peeled (I always add a lemon to beet juice to keep it crisp)

The How To
Wash all your fruits & veggies
Always peel your beets or your juice will taste dirty - literally, it will taste like dirt.
Always peel citrus fruit or your juice will taste bitter
Cut into pieces that will fit in your juicer and juice away.

Enjoy your Golden Nutrients!

Golden Beet Watermelon Carrot Juice

Summer is a great time to experiment with juice recipes. Produce is abundant and inexpensive. This time of year, I am far more adventurous with my juice creations. Today's juice creation celebrates one of my favorite summer fruits - the watermelon! As we all know the watermelon is one sweet fruit, so to tone it down I added a grapefruit. The result was as delicious as it was healthy. Here are the deets to create this yummy juice blend.

2 Cups Watermelon
1 Cup Carrots
1 Golden Beet
1 Grapefruit

Clean, Cut, Juice & Enjoy!

Pineapple Grapefruit Juice

This week we got a new grocery store - this makes me happy - very happy - almost as happy as if a new Nordstrom opened... This grocery store has a great concept it's a combo of your traditional supermarket mixed with your whole foods style natural market grocer. Each isle has your traditional grocery staple brands right next to a section of your more natural or specialized items. It's really a great concept. And since it was the grand opening they had some fantastic produce bargains! They had pineapples on sale for $2.00 so I have to grab one. Here is a great pineapple trick - when you cut up your pineapple resist the urge to toss the core - it's great for juicing! I used the core & only the core for juicing this time, usually I'll toss in a few pieces of the good stuff, but my experiment was successful!

The Deets
1 Pineapple Core
2 Ruby Red Grapefruits
The How To
Cut Core into Quarters
Peal and halve Grapefruit
Juice Away!
Enjoy!

Apple Plum Beet Juice

We're kicking off the new year in line with our New Food Resolution of Juicing more! The goal is to juice at least once a week. So far so good, two weeks in... Today's juice is bright on color and bold in flavor, apples for sweetness, plums for tang and beets for ultra vitamins. Here's the scoop on this Ruby Drink.

The Deets
2 Apples
4 Plums
1 Beet peeled

The How To
Wash the fruit
Peel beet
Take out pits
Cut to fit juicer (usually this means cut in half or quarter)
 Juice Away!
Isn't that a beautiful color?
*I recommend mixing this juice 2/3 juice to 1/3 water*
Drink up Antioxidant!

Pineapple Lemonade

I know Summer is technically over, but the temps are still warm and Lemonade is always a good treat. Today's version is sweeter than the normal tart lemonade and has a touch of the tropics with fresh pineapple. It's a big hit in our house.

The Deets
5 Lemons
1 Cup Fresh Pineapple (about 1/4 of a fresh pineapple)
3 Cups Water
1 Cup Ice
{I do not add sugar - but I like my lemonade on the tart side - if you want to sweeten it up a 1/4 Cup of Sugar should do the trick}

The How To
Peel the Lemons prior to juicing or the juice will be bitter
Cut the pineapple into large chunks - feel free to use the usually discarded core - it will juice nicely
Toss it into the Juicer & Juice Away
Pour into the pitcher of your choice
Add water and mix well
Add Ice
You Can Add A few slices of Lemon and Pineapple for decoration if you'd like
Nothing like a refreshing glass of lemonade on a warm fall evening!
Enjoy & Happy Fall!

Super Red Juice

Since I've now been back on the blogging wagon for just over a year, I figured it was time to start establishing a posting pattern.  I've been trying to Post once a week, which seems to be a good posting schedule with everything else I'm balancing.  Sometimes I have so many ideas that seem too similar I'm not quite sure what to blog about without it seeming mundane versions of the same thing - one week it's all about juicing, another month is all dessert plus I am also trying to get back to my roots of restaurant reviews, so to keep things balanced, here's the new plan:
Once a month I will post at least one of the following: a dessert, a meal recipe, a juice and a restaurant review.  Now that we're on track lets get started! This Month's Juice is About as Red as it gets. Rich with vitamins, antioxidants and flavor.

The Deets
2 Apples
2 Pears
10 Strawberries
4 Carrots
1 Beet (look at that rich, colorful, vitamin-filled beet!)
The How To
Clean all your Fruits & Veggies
Quarter your Apples & Pears
Peel your Beet
Juice Away
Happy, Healthy Independence Day!

Fresh Lemonade a Toast to Summer!

Happy First Day of Summer! What's one sure fire way to make it feel like summer? Lemonade! Lemonade is simple to prepare and is a crisp refreshing treat even on the hottest summer nights. I prefer my Lemonade a little on the tart side, so if you've got a real sweet tooth, add a bit more sugar. Here's the How To on my favorite summer drink.
The Deets
7 Lemons for juicing (approximately 1 1/4 Cups Lemon Juice)
1 Lemon for looks
2 Cups Warm Water
3/4 Cup Sugar (I like mine tart - if you want it sweeter add more sugar)
2 Cups Ice
The How To
Juice your Lemons - Remember  if you are using a juicer the lemons need to be peeled or the juice will be bitter
Mix the 2 cups of warm water and sugar to create your base
Add Lemon Juice to sugar water base
Mix Well
Add 2 Cups of Ice
Slice remaining Lemon and add it to the lemonade
Let sit until 1/2 of Ice is melted
Enjoy Your Summer!

Sunshine Juice

So by now you know I love my Jack Lalanne Power Juicer.  You also probably look at some of my juice concoctions and think "no thanks" or even "yuck" but really, none of them taste bad, they just take a little stronger palate sometimes.  In honor of Jack Lalanne, who passed away last month, I have made "normal" juice to please the masses. I call it Sunshine Juice. It's the perfect way to start the morning.
Sunshine Juice
3 Ruby Red Grapefruits
3 Oranges
Remember Citrus Must be peeled or the juice will be bitter.
That's it! Juice away.
Have a Sun-shiny Day!
